THE WARRIOR NOBLES

The feudal system rested on the unsettled conditions of the times and thus on the need of the lord for armed warriors and the need of the vassal for protection. The nobility was essentially a military class, with the knight as the typical warrior. Since equipping mounted fighters was expensive, the lord could not create his armed force without the obligation of the vassal to supply a stipulated number of armed men, a number that varied from the service of the vassal himself to the service of hundreds in private armies. The gradations of nobility were, therefore, based on both military service and landholding. At the bottom of the social scale was the squire, originally the servant of the knight. Above the knight were classes that varied in different countries—counts, dukes, earls, barons, and other nobles. The vassal owed, in addition to military service, other dues and services that varied with local custom and tended to become fixed. The obligation of the overlord in the feudal contract was always the protection of the vassal.

European warriors of the early Middle Ages used both indigenous forms of military equipment and arms and armor derived from late Roman types. One of the most widely used types of helmet was the Spangenhelm. Body armor was usually either a short-sleeved mail shirt (byrnie), made up of interlocking iron rings, or a garment of overlapping scales of iron, bronze, or horn. Shields were oval or round and made of light, tough wood covered with leather. Metallic mountings lined the rims. A hole in the center of each shield was bridged by a hand grip inside and a shield boss outside. Weapons were the spear, sword, ax, and the bow and arrow.

THE MAIN IDEAS FOR THE ISLAM

Islam is a religion and people who follow Islam are called Muslims (Moslems).
The book of Islam is called The Holy Quran (Koran). This book is like a rule-book of Islam. It is used as a reference. Everything about Islam is mentioned in this book.

The most basic concept of Islam is that there is only one God (also known as Allah in Arabic). The other concepts arise from this basic concept. Since there is only one God, only this God has the right to be worshipped. None other can be worshipped. No idols or deities. No statues.
Islam teaches you that since we owe our existence to God, we must show appreciation by worshipping Him. We must lead a life of simplicity and goodness. In return, we are promised a place in Heaven. Otherwise we shall punished by a place in Hell.

Another basic concept in Islam is Judgement Day. On this day, all life on Earth will be destroyed. All the dead will be brought back to life. Every person who has lived on Earth will be present at this time. Every person will be judged not by his race or social status.

To be a true Muslim, you must believe in the following:
- There is only one God
- None can be worshipped except God
- Prophet Mohammed (Muhammad) is the messenger of God
- Your deeds will be accounted for on the Day of

MUHAMMAD

Muḥammad was a man from Mecca who unified Arabia into a single religiouspolity under Islam. Believed by Muslims and Bahá'ís to be a messenger and prophet of God, Muhammad is almost universallyconsidered by Muslims as the last prophet sent by God to mankind. While non-Muslims regard Muhammad as the founder of Islam,[3] Muslims consider him to have restored the unaltered original monotheistic faith of AdamNoahAbrahamMoses,Jesus, and other prophets. Muslims discuss Muhammad and other prophets of Islam with reverence, adding the phrasepeace be upon him whenever their names are mentioned.

Born in about 570 CE in the Arabian city of Mecca, Muhammad was orphaned at an early age; he was raised under the care of his paternal uncle Abu Talib. After his childhood Muhammad primarily worked as a merchant.

The revelations (each known as Ayah, lit. "Sign [of God]") which Muhammad reported receiving until his death form the verses of the Quran, regarded by Muslims as the "Word of God" and around which the religion is based.
